What to build

make pre creates the PRE Guest and applies the service to it against the PRE inventory — one command for a rehearsal, with no Edge, no snapshot and no state backup, since PRE is LAN-only and disposable. make pre-down destroys the PRE Guest and clears its SSH host key so a finished rehearsal leaves nothing behind. Prod and PRE are told apart by Target selection alone, so neither Target can reach the other Guest. The runbook's PRE section is rewritten around the two Targets.

Acceptance criteria

  • make pre creates the PRE Guest, applies the service to it, and leaves Prod untouched.
  • make pre performs no Edge step, no snapshot and no state backup.
  • make pre-down destroys the PRE Guest and clears its host key.
  • The runbook's PRE section is written around the two Targets.

Blocked by

  • ##28 — PRE's config lands on main.
  • ##29 — the Makefile scaffold and its apply gate.
  • ##31 — the service layer through the Makefile.

Landed in 0f587cd (PR #45). All four acceptance criteria met: make pre creates the PRE Guest and applies the service against the PRE inventory with no Edge, snapshot or state backup; make pre-down destroys only the PRE container and clears its host key; the runbook PRE section is written around the two Targets. Prod and PRE remain separated by Target selection alone.
